My Photography path isn’t like most. I started taking photos in High School when my then-boyfriend bought me one of that point and shoot rectangular silver cameras. Of course, this was to take photos of us two (cringy, I know) but I started to take photos of locations we would go to, sports events we went to, and of my then high school friends. I fell in love with Photography but dropped the guy. I of course gave back all his belongings which included the camera.
Fast forward a few months I started college to become an accountant, then quickly realized I was too creative to sit at a desk and punch numbers all day. After switching my major to Marine biology and being accepted to A&M Galveston, I then switched it to Fine Arts Photography to stay close to home and at Lamar University. 18-year-old me was too afraid to move away from home even though it was barely an hour drive to Galveston.
So I stayed and began my Major in Photography but with no camera…… sounds smart right? Well, my dad surprised me with a used camera lens for my birthday that year. A Nikon D40 with the basic 18-55. I thought I was the shizzzzzz, But for 2011 this camera wasn’t that bad. So I started taking photos of family and friends along with my school work.
I originally started Robicheaux Photography in 2012 and had a Facebook business page but for personal reasons deleted my Facebook and along with it my business page. Years later I graduated with my degree and extreme burnout. I stopped taking photographs altogether. It wasn’t until I had my son that I started taking photos again. Not necessarily for business reasons but for personal. Then it started growing, taking my family’s photos again, shooting weddings for friends and Senior photos for family.
So I started my business page again and here we are. It’s been a long road but I made it and I love documenting moments in time. I am truly blessed to be able to share my passion with you and I hope to see you in front of the camera soon.
